AI採用の偏り

The other day, the news that a major company had introduced AI into its hiring process became a topic of discussion.

先日、ある大手企業が採用選考にAIを導入したというニュースが話題になった。

This system reportedly analyses applicants' résumés and aptitude test results, and automatically selects the candidates who should advance to the interview stage.

このシステムは、応募者の履歴書や適性検査の結果を分析し、面接に進むべき候補者を自動的に選別するものだという。

The company claims that it eliminates the biases that human recruiters unconsciously carry.

企業側は、人間の担当者が無意識に抱えるバイアスを排除できると主張している。

However, problems surfaced only six months after its introduction.

しかし、導入からわずか半年で問題が表面化した。

It became clear that the system was unfairly favouring graduates of certain universities and giving lower evaluations to applicants from rural areas.

システムが特定の大学の出身者を不当に優遇し、地方出身の応募者を低く評価する傾向があることが判明したのだ。

The cause lay in the fact that the past hiring data already contained biases.
