うん、金曜の夜にジュリアンと行ってきた。テイスティングメニューを試してみたよ。

Yes, I went there on Friday evening with Julien. We tried their tasting menu.

And what was it like? I'm not sure whether to go.

聞いて、料理は本当に素晴らしかった。シェフはかなり短いメニューを提供してるけど、すべて新鮮な食材を使って手作りで作られてる。スモークサーモンの前菜が最高だった。

Listen, the food was really excellent. The chef offers a fairly short menu, but everything is homemade with fresh ingredients. I loved the smoked salmon starter.

なかなかよさそうだね。値段は？

Sounds pretty good. And the prices?

正直に言うと、少し高いよ。テイスティングメニューはワインなしで一人六十五ユーロかかる。でも、品質を考えると納得できると思う。

It's a bit expensive, I won't lie to you. The tasting menu costs sixty-five euros per person, without wine. But for the quality, I think it's worth it.

And the service, was it good?

サービスは申し分なかった。ただ、小さいから前もって予約した方がいい。席は二十席くらいしかないから。

The service was impeccable. However, you'd need to book in advance because it's small. There are only about twenty covers.

誕生日に使うとしたらすすめる？

Would you recommend it for a birthday?

絶対に。雰囲気は親密で温かくて、キャンドルとシンプルな内装になってる。特別な機会にはぴったりだと思う。ただ、音楽のあるにぎやかな場所を探してるなら、ここは向いていないかも。

Absolutely. The atmosphere is intimate and warm, with candles and quite a minimalist décor. It would be perfect for a special occasion. On the other hand, if you're looking for a lively place with music, it's not ideal.

なるほど。もう少しカジュアルで、近くに他のおすすめの場所はある？

I see. And do you know another place to recommend in the neighbourhood, something a bit more relaxed?

うん、メルシエール通りに「ル・コンプトワール」っていうビストロがある。そこまで洗練されてはないけど、料理はたっぷりで雰囲気はとてもアットホームだよ。しかも、だいたい二十五ユーロで済む。

Yes, there's a bistro on Rue Mercière called "Le Comptoir". It's less refined, but the food is generous and the atmosphere is really friendly. And there you can get away with around twenty-five euros.
