ところで、昨夜のレストランはどうだった？おすすめできる？

So, how was the restaurant last night? Would you recommend it?

うーん、何を求めているかによるね。料理は素晴らしかったよ、特にパスタ・アッラ・ノルマが。でもサービスは少し物足りなかった。

Well, it depends on what you're looking for. The food was excellent, especially the pasta alla norma. But the service left a bit to be desired.

注文を取りに来るまで、ほぼ三十分待ったんだ。それに会計をお願いしたら、二十分後に持ってきた。

We waited almost half an hour before anyone came to take our order. And when we asked for the bill, they brought it after twenty minutes.

でも料理がよければ、行く価値はあるんじゃない。

But if the food was good, maybe it's worth it.

私はそう思う、辛抱強くいられるなら。質の割には値段が手ごろで、ワイン込みで一人あたり三十ユーロくらいだった。ローマの中心部としては妥当だよ。

In my opinion, yes, if you have patience. The prices are fair for the quality: we spent about thirty euros per person including wine. For central Rome, that's reasonable.

雰囲気はどうだった？

And what was the atmosphere like?

とても居心地がよかった。小さなお店で、木のテーブルとキャンドルがある。ロマンチックなディナーには最適だと思う、急いでいる人には向かないけど。

Very welcoming. It's a small place, with wooden tables and candles. I'd say it's perfect for a romantic dinner, less suitable if you're in a hurry.

もう気に入ってきた。何を注文するのがおすすめ？

前菜は絶対に試してほしい、特にブラータとミニトマトのやつが。パスタ料理は、パスタ・アッラ・ノルマが看板メニューだね。メインは自分は頼まなかったけど、隣のテーブルのタイが本当においしそうだった。

I'd definitely say try the starters, especially the burrata with cherry tomatoes. For the first course, the pasta alla norma is the standout dish. For the second course, I didn't have it, but the table next to us had a sea bream that looked spectacular.

デザートは？

And the desserts?

ティラミスはおいしかったけど、特別ではなかった。正直に言うと、もっとおいしいのを食べたことがある。でもコーヒーは最高だったよ。

The tiramisù was good but nothing special. To be honest, I've had better. But the coffee was excellent.

じゃあ、土曜日に行ってみようかな。予約は必要？

Good, I think I'll go on Saturday. Do I need to book?

絶対にした方がいい。私たちは予約なしで行って、テーブルが空くまで四十分待ったから。少なくとも一日前に電話することをおすすめするよ。

Absolutely yes. We went without a reservation and waited forty minutes for a table. I'd recommend calling at least a day in advance.
